Sayward

One hour north of Campbell River, 10 minutes off Highway 19, the Village of Sayward is nestled between the Prince of Wales Mountain Range (also known as Mt. H'Kusam) and the Johnstone Strait.

Opportunities for economical development abound in this cozy village of 400 residents. Primary industries are forestry, fishing, and tourism with recent spin-offs including a pole processing plant opened by Sierra Cascadia, and an ice plant owned by Hub City. Growth in the aquaculture industry offers a new source of employment. The arrival of high-speed internet combined with affordable housing has sparked an increase in home-based business. An influx of early retirees affords opportunity for more support-based industry and development.

Our close proximity to Campbell River will allow tour companies to draw from the cruise ships scheduled to dock there, and many tourists stop here on their way to the Prince Rupert ferry. Adventure tourism is at your fingertips with ocean and river kayaking, canoeing, salt and fresh water fishing and fly-fishing, back-road adventures, hiking, mountain climbing, bird watching, and wildlife spotting. Orcas, eagles, seals, sea lions, otters, elk, and bear frequent the area.

The Village has full emergency services, a recreation centre, school, library, tennis court, grocery store and gas. We also boast a small craft harbour, working wharf, and gift shop. The Village of Sayward offers affordable, comfortable living, great life-style, and room to grow, all in the heart of the pristine wilderness.
