Mt. Waddington RD

The Regional District of Mount Waddington (RDMW) encompasses the Northern third of Vancouver Island and a large area of the adjacent mainland. Although we are small in number, (approximately 14,000 people), we are one of the most important timber producing areas in Canada, and one of the largest producing areas for farmed salmon, as well as home to one of the few specialty cellulose mills in North America. Home of the Broughton Archipelago, the RDMW is host to thousands of visitors each year, whether to enjoy adventure on the land or the water. Tourism continues to emerge as an economic sector, as people are drawn to the beauty of the North Island.

The Regional District of Mount Waddington is comprised of 4 electoral areas, and the Village of Alert Bay, the Village of Port Alice, the Town of Port McNeill and the District of Port Hardy.
